International competition of Canoe Marathon on Ticino River from Vigevano to Pavia with arrival in front of Canottieri Ticino (about 42 Km total).
It has been created 41 years ago by our member Cav. Marino Valle as a sports event only for wild waters boats. Then it has been opened to flat waters boats and became an important national marathon competition.
The race assigned eight times the Italian Championship of this speciality (1987-1989-1991-1993-2000-2002-2006-2009) then in 1997 the athletes ran for the “European title” and the 1999 edition was valid as first competition for World Cup.
In 2010 the competition will be the Italian selection result for participation to the World Marathon.
Every year the competition assigns the Filippo Vidali Cup (18th edition), to the first classified in male Under 18 category, in memory of our athlete Filippo Vidali, died in a car accident.
Since 2009 the competition assigns the Cav. Marino Valle Cup to the first oldest classified in male Master Category (over 35).
In 2010 edition will be assigned special prizes to the first classified of each category.
The 41st Canoe Marathon Vigevano Pavia is a competition which has the aim to promote this sport at national and international level and to make Pavia and its beautiful land known both in sports ambit and in touristic one.
